On Thursday 14 December 2023, I was delighted to welcome a large delegation of elected representatives from the Republic of Djibouti, led by the Lord Mayor of Djibouti, Mr SAÏD DAOUD MOHAMED. The purpose of the visit was to learn from our successful experience in sustainable waste management.
We are honoured to have shared our expertise with our colleagues from Djibouti and to have been able to discuss best practice in waste management. It was a fruitful exchange, and we are confident that this collaboration will enable both cities to make progress in managing waste more efficiently and sustainably.
We are proud of the work our community has done in waste management. Thanks to our awareness-raising, selective sorting, composting and recycling initiatives, we have managed to significantly reduce our environmental footprint. We will continue to improve our infrastructure and programmes to preserve our environment and ensure a healthy living environment for all.
I would like to thank all the local stakeholders, municipal employees and residents of Dschang who have contributed to this success. Your commitment and support are essential if we are to continue along this sustainable path.
This visit by the Djibouti delegation was a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and strengthen the ties between our two cities. Together, we can face up to the environmental and social challenges of our time.
Thanks to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and all those who helped make this visit possible. Let’s continue to work together for more sustainable waste management.
