In the Civil Status Room at Dschang Town Hall, a crucial exchange meeting was held this Thursday, July 11, 2024 on Energy and Local Development. It followed an expression of interest from FRANCKPRIX ENERGY Sarl, a company wishing to support the Dschang Council in enhancing its energy supply, thereby promoting access to electricity for its inhabitants.
Attended by the Lord Mayor, Jacquis Gabriel KEMLEU, the meeting marked a key moment in the current term of office. The Lord Mayor has made improving energy supply one of his priorities from the start of his term in 2020. With the support of partners, two major projects are currently underway: the construction of two hydroelectric power stations, one of which is an interesting hybrid (photovoltaic and hydroelectric).
The CEO of FRANCKPRIX ENERGY Sarl, Mr. Joël TEMGOUA, and his colleagues presented their company, which specializes in renewable energies, medium- and high-voltage electrical networks, and the supply of cables and electrical equipment. They also outlined the project they would like to carry out in Dschang and the associated financing mechanisms.
The Lord Mayor expressed his support for the project, stressing that young people from the diaspora play an essential role in local development. He also announced that studies for the renovation of the Tsinkop micropower station had already been completed, as had those concerning the cliff. He pointed out that the project could also be used to build a solar field in the short term to supply the Dschang Council, the Dschang Annex Regional Hospital, the University and the strategic arteries of the city of Dschang. He announced that a more technical meeting would be held in the next few days with the managers of FRANCPRIX ENERGY Sarl, the Director of the Water and Energy Agency of the Dschang Council (AMEE) and the technical partner of the Dschang Council.
This meeting marks a promising step forward for energy access and sustainable development in Dschang. The joint efforts of local stakeholders and private partners will help to improve living conditions for residents and strengthen the municipality’s energy future.
