A crucial meeting was held this Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at the Civil Status Hall of the Dschang Council, marking a significant milestone in the Foréké-Dschang community radio project. Chaired by Mr. Jacquis Gabriel KEMLEU, Lord Mayor of the Dschang Council, and in the presence of Mr. Huges NDIH, Head of Delegation and Senior Project Assistant at UNESCO’s Regional Office for Central Africa, the meeting brought together the project’s key stakeholders.
The “Support for local development through community radio” project is part of the government’s policy to empower communities at grassroots level. The emphasis is on the active participation of communities themselves in the development process.
Discussions focused on several key aspects of the project, including its rationale, technical and financial support, and management. The Lord Mayor warmly welcomed the initiative, pointing out that it aligned perfectly with the municipality’s efforts to promote communication, inform, train and raise awareness among local populations. He also expressed his full support for the initiative.
The project leaders and accompanying staff were congratulated on their commitment and dedication to this cause. The Foréké-Dschang community radio station promises to be a powerful tool for strengthening the voice of local residents and promoting sustainable development within the municipality.
