On the fringes of the workshops of the standing committee on “Cities and sustainable development” of the International Association of French-speaking Mayors, the elected representatives of the Council of Belel, Pitoa, Ngaoundéré and Dschang, who shared the same vision of local development for many years, felt it necessary to take some time to draw up the action plan for the cooperation they have been maintaining since 2021, with the aim of making it operational and meeting their common challenges. To this end, technicians from these Councils met from 1 to 2 June in the meeting room of the Dschang Council annex building. The discussions focused on the reciprocal sharing of best practices in the areas of waste management, access to water and sanitation, and the mobilisation and securing of resources in order to implement better public policies. In addition, the framework for implementing this partnership was formulated, i.e. working to gain a better understanding of the current state of waste management, water and sanitation services and project financing, in order to seize the opportunities for technical support and financing offered by various development partners in terms of decentralised cooperation. A priority action plan was drawn up for the period 2023-2024.

The results of this work were presented on Friday, 02 June 2023 in the Town Hall of the Dschang Council in the presence and to the satisfaction of the Mayors. The standard-bearer of the mandate of challenges congratulated the technicians on the quality of the work.
