On 9 and 10 September 2024, the Dschang Council was proudly represented by its standard bearer, Lord Mayor Jacquis Gabriel Kemleu Tchabgou, at the workshop of the Commission on Cities and Sustainable Development in Dakar, Senegal. The event, organised by the City of Lausanne and the International Association of French-Speaking Mayor’s (AIMEF), brought together elected representatives, technicians and academic experts to discuss the challenges and solutions of sustainable urban development.

At the heart of the discussions were the issues of energy supply and urban redevelopment. The presentations gave rise to enriching discussions and exchanges of best practice, strengthening cooperation between French-speaking towns and cities.

The Lord Mayor of Dschang made a particularly strong impression with an applauded presentation on urban redevelopment and waste management. Since 2020, Dschang has established itself as a model city in this field, and this international recognition confirms the ongoing efforts of the municipality.

Dschang’s participation in this workshop is part of an ongoing process of progress. As an active member of the “Cities and Sustainable Development” Commission, the Council is determined to improve its waste treatment practices. Dschang was honoured to host this Commission last year, demonstrating its commitment and leadership.

The Dschang Council continues to distinguish itself through its innovative initiatives and its commitment to sustainable urban development.

Together, we are making Dschang an exemplary and resilient city.
