On Wednesday July 17, 2024, a crucial meeting was held in the Civil Status Room of the Dschang Town Hall. It focused on Component 3 of the PESOP project (Promoting Economic and Social Participation of Internally Displaced Persons and Host Population Communities).

The PESOP project is a joint initiative of GIZ (German Agency for International Cooperation) and UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees). It aims to strengthen the economic and social inclusion of internally displaced persons and vulnerable members of host communities in the West Cameroon region, notably in five partner Councils: Bafoussam 1st Dschang, Foumban, Kouoptamo and Mbouda.

Following the workshop to launch the third phase of the project in Bafoussam on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, the Dschang meeting had several objectives:

– Reflect collectively on data collection methodology.

– Redefine vulnerability criteria.

– Adapt the registration form for internally displaced persons.

– Evaluate the level of digitalization of the Dschang Council for the conservation, handling and securing of the data collected.

Lord Mayor Jacquis Gabriel KEMLEU, standard-bearer of the mandate of challenges, was personally present at the meeting. He emphasized that the Dschang Council was sufficiently advanced in terms of digitization. This project is fully in line with the policy of inclusiveness advocated by the Dschang Council, to which the Lord Mayor pays particular attention.

This important meeting strengthened collaboration between key stakeholders and highlighted the Dschang Council’s commitment to the inclusion and well-being of its citizens.
